04. On Our Flight to Pennsylvania<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>

The American Air Force Sergeant announced:
<\/span>\u201cYou\u2019re all going to Pennsylvania.\u201d
<\/span><\/span>After hearing that, we all got goosebumps,
<\/span>Pennsylvania! Too cold and our senses felt numbed.<\/span><\/p>

We dragged ourselves onto the buses,
<\/span><\/span>Looking outside despairingly, hiding our gloomy faces.
<\/span>When the buses arrived at the airbase,
<\/span>Row after row of military airplanes. We’re checkmated!<\/span><\/p>

They were C-130 military airplanes, line after line,
<\/span><\/span>With gigantic tail ends open ready to swallow us alive.
<\/span>We paced single file up to the airplane\u2019s ramp,
<\/span>Taking our seats snugly on the floor of the plane.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cKeep moving!\u201d Everyone inched closer
<\/span><\/span>Fastening our seat belts anxiously.
<\/span>Two rows of people facing each other,
<\/span>Nobody said a word, only their worried faces did the talking.<\/span><\/p>

Everybody looked tense and scared.
<\/span><\/span>Each person, each thought, some mumbling prayers.
<\/span>The plane glided in the air like a giant kite,
<\/span>Leaving at night and arriving after sunrise.<\/span><\/p>

Everybody had to get off the airplane.
<\/span><\/span>We were ushered into a large dinning hall for breakfast.
<\/span>Our airplane had an engine problem, we’re told.
<\/span>So we had to board a new plane to resume our flight.<\/span><\/p>

After landing at Harrisburg’s Airport,
<\/span><\/span>We saw so many yellow school buses waiting for us.
<\/span>As the buses were driving through town,
<\/span>We saw several groups of Americans by the road welcoming us.<\/span><\/p>

For a moment, love sprung out to fill my heart.
<\/span><\/span>Why were Americans glad to see us?
<\/span>Children and adults standing on the side of the road,
<\/span>Waving American flags with cheering smiles on their faces.<\/span><\/p>

My gloomy face turned joyful,
<\/span><\/span>All my worries replaced with happy ones.
<\/span>Like flowers, altogether, rushed to bloom,
<\/span>To offer their nectar to happy bees and dancing butterflies.
