19. Coming Back to Penn State After Summer Job<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>

After finishing my summer job,
<\/span>The Chinese boss lent me four-hundred bucks.
<\/span>I drove back to Penn State that evening;
<\/span>As soon as I got out of the car, I heard a loud voice from afar.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cGive me all your money.\u201d
<\/font>\u201cI don\u2019t have any money, man.\u201d I shouted to conceal my fear.
<\/span><\/span>Lucky for me he was still some distance away,
<\/span>Standing behind the light pole thinking I should run away.<\/span><\/p>

He wouldn’t open fire if I ran,
<\/span>Under the cover of darkness I felt confident.
<\/span>Ready to flee at any moment, thinking in my head,
<\/span>Suddenly I heard the sound of the gun loaded \u201c<\/span><\/span>kack\u201d.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>

I sprinted away like a cat,
<\/span>Into a students’ house next door asking for help.
<\/span>The police arrived in a flash
<\/span>That motherfucker still had the gun by his ass.<\/span><\/p>

This punk must had done this many times,
<\/span>Robbing Asian students was easy as eating pie.
<\/span>He knew where I lived so he was waiting outside
<\/span>Flashing his gun waiting for me to arrive.<\/span><\/p>

From that time onward, my outlook changed completely.
<\/span>I watched over my shoulder wherever I went.
<\/span>Never thought that violent crimes would happen on campus;
<\/span>I found out that robberies targeting mostly at the Asian folks.<\/span><\/p>

My student loan money was running low.
<\/span>Because it was my final year, so I had to stop working.
<\/span>I must use the money for food
<\/span>Buying textbooks to recover my bad grades.<\/span><\/p>

Having textbooks made a world of difference.
<\/span>Regularly I aced quizzes and exams
<\/span>A’s and B’s consistently made
<\/span>Not like before, when C’s were usually my grades.<\/span><\/p>

Luckily for me one thing I did best,
<\/span>Having textbooks made me seemed smarter.
<\/span>Food money now must be budgeted even more.
<\/span>A twenty-pound bag of rice for two big bottles of soy sauce.<\/span><\/p>

Two meals a day was how I subsisted.
<\/span>Chicken was cheap so I always bought it.
<\/span>A bowl of rice and a piece of chicken breast,
<\/span>Boiling the chicken and using the broth for soup was my best.<\/span><\/p>

Chicken dipped with seasoned tofu and soy sauce,
<\/span>The meals were tasty because I was often hungry.
<\/span>For lunch a piece of chicken with a bowl of rice.
<\/span>For dinner a bowl of rice with a piece of chicken would be fine.
