09. The First Time Seeing Snow<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Oh no, I was late for work,
<\/span><\/span>The room was so bright as if it were noon time.
<\/span>I peeked through the window curtain to look outside,
<\/span>The entire ground was covered in a really thick snowy white.<\/span><\/p>

The clock showed it was only eight,
<\/span><\/span>So I took the time to marvel at my first snowy scene.
<\/span>Irresistible, I pulled open the door that was covered with snow
<\/span>The snow glittering like zillions of diamond rings.<\/span><\/p>

The snow blanketed every inch of ground white;
<\/span><\/span>I was awestruck enjoying my first scene of snow overnight.
<\/span>What a picturesque dreamy scene it was.
<\/span>Mother Nature had succeeded with her surprised treat of snow.<\/span><\/p>

After a few months staying in the motel,
<\/span><\/span>Jim\u2019s mother told me she had an extra room in her house.
<\/span>Jim asked me, \u201cWhat do you think?
<\/span>If you want to, you can move in with them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

The minister, Jean, and Fred all gave me their blessings,
<\/span>\u201cIt\u2019s better for you, Lay,\u201d they agreed.
<\/span><\/span>The DePhillips family consisted of three members,
<\/span>The couple, their son Ernie, and me are now four.<\/span><\/p>

They had four children altogether:
<\/span><\/span>Sonny, Ernie, Donna, and Jim – all older than me.
<\/span>Three of their children lived with their own families,
<\/span>Only Ernie lived at home with them.<\/span><\/p>

They took me in without any planning,
<\/span><\/span>I wrote to them asking if I could call them Mom and Dad.
<\/span>Later, they told me they were glad.
<\/span>Ernie and I were just like real brothers – a home for me at last.
